Anjali Raman-Middleton (She/Her)
Co-FounderAnjali Raman Middleton (she/her) is the Co-director of Choked Up, co-founding the campaign in 2020. She organised and developed the #Mayor4CleanAir 2021 campaign and since then has worked with Mayor Sadiq Khan, national government, and international governmental organisations at COP and C40 conferences to highlight the disproportionate effects of air pollution of people of colour. Anjali is now studying Politics and International Relations at UCL and is currently on a year abroad at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Beau Boka-Batesa (They/Them)
Co-founderBeau Boka-Batesa (they/them) is the Co-director and Designated Safeguarding Lead of Choked Up. They co-founded the campaign in 2020, and since led the movement to foster exciting projects such as the #MayorforCleanAir campaign in 2021, an episode with Climate Curious, a podcast run by TedxLondon, as well as engaging in numerous projects during COP26. As of 2025, Beau has graduated from reading Modern and Medieval Languages (French) at Lincoln College, Oxford, and has been appointed as the campaign’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. This means that they are the port of call should any issues rise.

Malini Raman-Middleton (She/Her)
Director of CommunicationMalini is a freelance social media manager, where she leads social media strategy and digital media to drive impact. With a background in film and theatre, she has written and directed short films and plays in both London and Canada, bringing a strong visual and narrative story to her social media work. Her work sits at the intersection of storytelling and activism.
Ebada Hassan (She/Her)
Local Groups Coordinator
Ebada Hassan is an actress and a global health graduate. She’s passionate about the social determinants of health and has a background in mental health advocacy. Ebada is interested in the intersection between creative storytelling and advocacy, hoping to use this in coordinating campaigns with local groups.
